Holy EPER ! Has the time come to question the $$$ need of extracurricular activities?

I understands extracurricular school activities help shape students as individuals beyond classroom academics. However, with teachers being underpaid and deficiencies in material needs of the classroom the time has come to question what $$ is the priority of needs?

Spit is out! Should we need to consider cutting  after school extracurricular ?

  1. Worked in a factory through college and got paid time and a half for over 40 hours. Became a teacher joined the union and got overtime pay that was less than regular pay plus had to take extra work to get picked for regular job position. Why do you think so many leave the profession? They are not respected or treated as salaried employees, they are treated as if they are hourly. Teachers have required continuing education just to keep their license which expires.

  2. I have no problem with EPER (its a minimal amount of money) but if you want your kid to be a part of the sports program or the ultimate frisbee club then the parents should have to pay for it
