    Kilroy,

So what does your lowbrow “buddy” in Capital District say about the CSD win? Does he regret his uninformed and petulant perfidy in posting accusations against a widely popular PTA leader who has obviously helped Christina to eek out a victory? Can he for once shut his OCD trap and just admit that he was wrong?

Forget the little man. He isn’t worth another blog comment.

By the way, the Christina district had a real sleeper of an advocate in Brian Stephan. A numbers guy. Clarified the reality each time a red herring popped up, The guy really stepped up and pushed the ball toward the goal. He is a keeper.

Between Ms PTA and Mr Nummercy — both performing in service under a real lead in Bob A (who John Young was/is opposed to) — they cinched victory from the maw of defeat. Big John has no idea (i.e., clue) how fortunate the district was to have good volunteers despite his puglisitc pinheadedness. The days of his gross gadfly stooling are numbered.

The “A Team” covered over the district’s 5-year rising tide of taxes which exceeds inflation by more than 300%. They won it for the district. For now. But unless the district now makes good on the win — by raising expectations, raising outcomes (seriously), and raising a cooperative (rather than combative) tenor in governance, then this win will be the calm before the final fatal storm.

BJ (Big John) should consider this gift horse carefully and seriously revise his game. He has nothing to show for 6+ plus years on the board, but he has 4- years to make something of his remaining time. Suggestion for the first step to integrity: Sell the Astro Power industrial facility — taxpayers have no business paying taxes to own it just because BJ is embarrassed to sell it for its value at 10 cents on the dollar-paid.

    • Funny how you leap to praise Christina when they pass their referendum but dogged them every chance you got prior to this. Brian Stephan did the same thing last year and has never waivered. Even funnier that you want to throw the praise on your friend and her friend as if they were the ONLY reason this referendum passed. I believe it was your friend who volunteered her services to her friend. Your friend who dogs people behind their back and then smiles in front of them. Your friend who hops from one cause to the next without looking back and leaving others in the dust to pick up the wreckage from her wake? Your friend whose sole existence seems to exist in name-dropping those she is friends with every chance she gets to impress people but they aren’t really impressed cause they are some of the shadiest people in the state? My support for the referendum was for the teachers and the kids, not the “A-Team”. They walked around with their sticks of dynamite waiting to go off at any moment. I granted your friend a mercy when others would not have been so kind. But that dynamite will blow, and when it does, it will get ugly real fast. It is not a question of if, but when. The only question will be who lights the fuse. It’s all relative…

Kevinito: You were very “discriminating” in your posting of anti-PTA personal attacks. Sorry your skin is too thin to take what you dish. Despite your attempts to deflect, please understand that I attack you and only you. For elegant reason. You are as much a bully as B-John. Sad, really. May karma land on your shoulders like the albatross.

    • When your friends are assaulted by a person like you, I take offense to that. You judge from your empty throne and act as if you are the innocent one. You are obnoxious, condescending, and ignorant of the true needs of children. Attack me all you want, but you only show your true colors to all. Some may see you as witty, but most view you as the racist and discriminatory person you are. I’m not sure who Ms. Minnehan agrees with in this thread, but it is clear to most you are lacking of moral character and any type of finesse. You may look the part, but inside you are a shell of a man.

A funny observation — a 1% swing in the vote from For to Against and the referendum would have lost. I guess “the one percent” know best. 🙂

I just want to take a brief moment to thank each and every one of you who voted to support the Christina referendum and the children who will benefit from your decision. I also want to take this opportunity to invite those who opposed the referendum to contact me and allow me to be a facilitator of dialogue with Christina District administrators and board members so that together we can assure and reassure you that this success is in the best interest of public education and the children.

Once again thank all of you for exercising your civic responsibility and coming out to vote. All of you should be proud that you participated in the democratic process.

    Respectfully,

    Representative John Kowalko

This statement, from this source, gives anyone of discernment clear insight into “what’s really going on.” For the few who join with me, welcome. For those teetering on the edge of discernment, just think about it for a minute. The statement and the source.

Oh, I’m not arguing a point of view at all, Angos, which of course you miss, again. I’d say the same if it did go the other way. My lot in life is to point out the overwhelming insanity in a way that -might- make someone look, -might- make someone realize just how corrupt (see, Kwackspeare, John, for ex.) and out of control the whole govt schooling (not education) system is.

And this topic is an instance of insanity writ large. Consider this too; might Kwackspeare claim that his entry into the fray, blazing eyes of his white steed flashing, crimson cape billowing behind, sword of justice brandished high, mouthing inanities designed to cow the long beaten down masses into blindly reacting to his pompous directive … might he argue that this created the winning margin? Sure he might. And in return? More assured votes when HIS turn comes. More govt at any and every level is as wrong as it is self perpetuating. I do not believe there is any more unholy alliance than the elected and the appointed/sanctioned/union workers under their aegis.

Many times I’ve made the list, just a day or two ago on another thread, in fact, as to why the money is/was plenty, it’s the use -and the users- that’s all wrong. No need to repeat it here. Suffice to say, more money will not CSD fix, not any more than the latest crime commission will fix gun violence, or that the Right Rev. Tony’s Scheme Number 3459 will fix Wilmington schools. Etc., ad nauseum.

    • Who was the fine individual who posted on this blog that the last disapproval vote of about 900 votes was insufficient a number and unfair to the district? You know you are out there, I just would like to know if 145 is sufficient to tell the whole district, many of whom have no kids or pay additional to send their kids to acceptable schools, you must pay more?

Congratulations to CSD for convincing a sufficient number of residents to obtain a 2% difference of yays to nays. I truly hope the administration will take to heart that it required dragging the voters out 3 times (twice while the snow birds were away) in a year, to get approval for a 20 % increase when most constituents income has not risen even 15% since 2008. I also truly hope those who vouched and promoted the changes are willing to fall on their swords and pay the taxpayers back if the PROMISED changes are not instituted. I urge our esteemed representatives and district officials to report back every year TO ALL the voting public via district wide notifications, the DOCUMENTED PROOF of meeting “~clear~” benchmarks to “improve classroom environment and discipline” AND “enhance existing educational offerings”.
I hope the needs of the many students who want high quality education in safe, disciplined environments are not outweighed by the needs of the few who do not appreciate, abuse, and destroy communal efforts. I hope the board, super, and district administration sincerely recognizes that status quo effort, union appeasing, and decisions based on dysfunctional paradigms of transfer payments need to stop.
Good Luck. You have the money, now make it happen. If not, please forward your personal salaries (all of it) and liquidate your assets as refunds to:
      John Q Public (taxpayer)

John Q will transfer the funds to all those who actually paid in.

When you are on the winning side of a contentious debate you should always embrace the other side’s viewpoint to see if you and they have mutual ground. It’s called accepting responsibilities with a certain class and open-mindedness and honesty, none of which qualities you seem to possess. So please move forward with your “Trump-like” low-class attitude and I’m sure you’ll become a voice/person of influence to some rabble skulking about somewhere in the shadows of resentment and hatred that you choose to live in.

People should be more aware next time and that will probably be next year, exactly what your school taxes go to and how much the school district has a say in raising your school taxes on a yearly basis.

Also: The system needs to change dramatically!!!
School board members should have a 2 or 3 year time on the board, not 5 year.
The board should have continuing education, that should be mandatory. If you don’t do it, you loose your seat on the board.

Interesting that the Christina school district board is not on the DSBA!

This decision by CSD is the first step on the road to redemption. DSBA is bloated, overcharging, and underdelivering. John has this one right.
