DE Sec of ED Murphy said “Academy of Dover misappropriated funds” but no arrest! Why!

STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING AUDIO – PART 4

Hear for yourself, Delaware Secretary of Education Mark Murphy said, “school or it’s representative misappropriated  funds”. Un-F’ing believable, DE DOE by law is required to have a DE DOE representative on the charter schools Citizen Budget Oversight Committee.  When will the idiots working at DE DOE in the Charter School Office be put on probation?

Jenny said, the matter was referred to state audit and AG office! WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DE DOE has representatives on the CBOC!

Check out this:

Maybe the Charter School Office needs to assign its current staff to get out there and actually attend meetings … and then follow up on their truant assignees and censure them. Leadership starts at the top. They could publish a list of which specific person is assigned to which specific schools. For starters.

I would argue that by posting a part-time job with no relevant qualifications to perform this task the Charter School Office is revealing its complete disrespect for the position and the oversight role. If the charter school office leader has no value for attending CBOC meetings where she assigned herself, what value do you think the underlings (part-time or otherwise) will have for it when she assigns them to schools?

A little bit of old school discipline is in order.

Agreed, but … take one step back. I would further argue that the CSO is revealing its complete disrespect for the citizens it is duty bound to serve by assigning a null value to the role at hand. Sort of like they’ve done with every other role? No?

As to sending the hands out there get dirty, great idea. Cawley used to have every exec sit on the phones regularly to see what the customers were saying, doing, needing, wanting. Wouldn’t it be great to get to a day when those whose job it is to serve, serve?

But, they won’t if we don’t. Change out the elected, that is. Clean up the self sustaining system of the elected handing out sop to the every growing numbers of the Administrative State in return for their votes and the votes of all the rest of their family and friends on the dental plan.

Odds are, you’d come out a believer, so you probably don’t really wanna go there.

You can monitor a charter school now … just go to the meetings. All that the CSO “job” does is pay someone to do what the public can already do. If you really want the job, it might be smart to go to a few charter school budget meetings first and then claim your experience on you application. Trust me, you will be the only candidate with experience if you do this.

I can’t wait to see who they put into this $30/hour sinecure. I hope that reading the state codes before they show up at the first meeting is a job prerequisite. Sadly, it probably is not.

Of course the Golden Fleece award goes to the state itself. Did they bother to check with the charter schools themselves as to whether or not their boards and/or budget committees will even meet over the summer? My guess is that very few, if any, meet during the summer months. Only a tone deaf bureaucracy can create a job for which there is no workplace.

Well, the Teamsters were good at it too in their halcyon days.

  3. Publius is rignt – the CSW calendar is empty for the summer. Actually it is empty for the rest of 2015. I guess at this point the school sort of runs itself? The first task in monitoring is to find out when the meetings are.

    • This is the heart of the problem. Far too many charters operate on a level of arrogance and cockiness and they openly rebel against following state law and procedures. The more pressure exerted on them, the more they push back. Almost as if they were directed to do so….
