Cuts to seniors school tax rebate are needed so Governor Markell can bailout the casinos!

Delaware casinos: Panel recommends $46 million bailout  Jon Offredo, The News Journal 6:09 p.m. EST January 23, 2015

A panel studying ways to find fiscal relief for Delaware’s lagging gambling industry recommended a nearly $46 million package to provide a pathway to stabilize its three casinos.

So give $46 million casinos and take $12.6 from seniors !!!

Should all Delaware seniors get tax breaks? Jonathan Starkey and Jon Offredo, The News Journal

But as lawmakers rush to oppose Gov. Jack Markell’s plan to cut $12.6 million in property tax credits for seniors, few are discussing the long-term impact of tax breaks for older Delawareans, many passed by vote-seeking lawmakers in headier financial times.

Shame on you Jack !

  1. If the seniors don’t have money to spend the casinos will go under anyway.

  3. As I have said once and will say a hundred times, the best way to make the casinos solvent on their own is to allow marijuana to be smoked legally upon their grounds… If acted upon this legislative session our three casinos would be the only legal territory East of the Rocky Mountains for fumigating. it would take several years for our competitors to follow suit.

Funny as this first sounds, upon looking into the numbers of it, it would solve a serious amount of this state’s financial problems with no subsequent costs to the state… Marijuana smokers don’t run stop signs; if anything, they wait for them to turn green.

Let’s just say… such a change would “sniff” out new revenue for us…

    • I’m actually in favor of this Kavips. After falling into the Marijuana bud flower trap, like in Percy Jackson’s The Lightning Thief- smoking pot on the grounds, they should get tested upon leaving. If tests prove positive, then NO aid, no bankruptcy, no driving privileges. They can go back in, sniff out the munchies and be sedate, satiated, and satisfied while staying off the roads away from everyone else or harming others. All the while funneling more of their funds into the cash cow casinos that the state in its infinite wisdom decided to use as a cash IV for decades of state level cash mismanagement.

But smoking has been banned in public places. Didn’t you get the paper that day?

      Prostitution.

It’s inevitable at the rate the People’s Republic is going, why not now? After that, murder. Taxed, sanctioned, maybe even provided by State pre-retirees! Oh, wait, will even the gummint take on the mob?

  4. The house always wins. If you can’t make a buck in a casino (running it), you don’t understand math, or how to run a business. Casino’s sell nothing. They make nothing. No production costs. No raw materials. If casino’s aren’t making money, they should close. The idea that we’re propping up a business with tax dollars (and one that should make a profit simply by opening its doors…just as long as someone shows up) is insane. Maybe they aren’t showing up (Dover Downs was nearly empty the evening I was there last week.

  5. Profits are the problem!!! If they let more people win, say 10 people to every one who wins over at our state’s competitors… we’d have the business… Those Racino people are just to damn cheap…. Perhaps if marijuana were legalized, they could pick up some free butts off the floor, fire them up and smoke them, and become enlightened….

      “Profits are the problem!!!”

Yeah. Thank God that the people that (for example) imagine, then make computers and keyboards and write code that enables bloggers to, uh, comment, even from alternate universes, were motivated by and funded fully by their zeal to enrich their fellow man at the cost of their own comfort and sustenance, let alone enrichment.

I wonder if kavips and John reside in the same Zero Business Understanding universe or if they’re populating and preaching in different ones.
