Del. commission would study Wilmington crime Jonathan Starkey, The News Journal
Delaware Gov. Jack Markell would hand-pick the majority of members on a new commission to study policies to reduce violent crime in Wilmington, according to a draft of a joint resolution in Dover that would create the “Wilmington Public Safety Strategies Commission.”
The resolution, sponsored by nine Democratic members of the Wilmington delegation in the General Assembly, is expected to be introduced Thursday in the Delaware House of Representatives. It would impose an ambitious deadline, requiring panel recommendations to Markell and the General Assembly by March 31.
Nothing but a lame-duck shuffle! At the end of the day, Wilmington needs more police and jobs! Yea I know, crime chases jobs away! I say, Markell needs to get out of the way and let Governor AG Matt Denn carry the ball! And you can be Markell will try to capitalize on any Denn successes!
