Is Governor Markell looking to manipulate local school taxes to fund his reckless education agenda?

Markell focuses on crime, infrastructure, education in State of State By Amy Cherry WDEL

The proposal will call for a raise in starting salaries for teachers and will allow educators to earn more by taking on leadership responsibilities while remaining in the classroom.

The new pay scale has long been needed in Delaware, which loses some of its best teachers to neighboring states, which all pay their teachers more money.

At the same time, Markell called for a change in the way education is funded. He’s proposed a school funding task force to make recommendations that spur innovation on schools and address inequities for the state’s neediest students.

“We can’t prepare our students to seize the opportunities of a new economy with a funding system that was developed three-quarters of a century ago,” said Markell.

In deed we need radical changes in how we fund Delaware’s public schools! However, it needs to be the same way as we fund our votech schools, via legislative action. Put the burden on the legislators and “maybe” they’ll put an end to open charter school meal tickets meal tickets via commercial credit-cards! And just maybe they’ll pull the plug on Markell like political self-serving education agenda that feed the Rodel clones and Teach for America scammers ! But for sure, local taxpayers better put their guard up!

Yeah. He tried this on the audience of my fellow makers last week. Unfortunately, no one clapped or looked up from their cell phones as the case may have been (a lot of smart folks zoned out in the first 4 minutes). A statement so idiotic could only be spouted by an evil politician, bent on deception and distraction. Shoot, I’d hazard a guess that even 42.5% of the K-denizens might recognize at least one of the multiplicity of horrific pieces in the whole statement.

Imagine sitting down and writing this stuff for him.

Elsewhere, we learn that basically, teachers are of no particular value to the kids until they’ve finished 5 years. And that they quit after 5 years (“because we are treated like children,” “because we don’t get to control anything”). To the latter, well, you chose to be a union member, a commodity, not a leadership training, career path motivated participant in the workforce. To the former, is it any wonder kids don’t learn when there’s no one in front of them that knows how to teach?

Hey, I wonder if there’s an opening for me on Task Force 453? Did I discover fire here?
