  1. I cannot bring myself to relive it. Did he get any video of my whiteboard?

  2. What is it going to take to get Young and Kwacko to shut up? Compromise is part of this process… give and take. Your plan isn’t working… you have had years to make it work and look where that has gotten you!?!? I am so glad I don’t have kids in your schools… you would have a big problem with me. All you can say is NO!! The vote is in… time for you idiots to step down. You lost yet again.

    • Kowalko and young while appearing to be from the lunatic fringe are 100% correct on is one. Markell and big business has run roughshod over an unsuspecting, well intentioned yet naive dsea, school boards and completely overwhelmed, ass kissing groups of supers. These supers have one job and one job only…to get a majority vote when their contracts are up…

I vote for Greg. Charlie Brown and the Heretic is a band past its franchise. Unplug and move on.

    • Greg,

Get someone to run and beat me. It’s simple. OR come to the meetings and publicly speak out against me. I’ll return fire and we’ll have a good time.

    • The DOE can’t be trusted. We’ve seen this time and time again. The only ones who can trust them are the Charter loving ass kissers, cause they are very protected, unless they go nuts with Amex cards or genuinely suck really bad. But don’t worry charter cheerleaders, your day is coming, sooner than you think!

I just hope re-education camps aren’t at the other end of these increasingly frequent threats.

It’s not finger wagging he may be doing that I fear; it’s him wearing a WWI flying ace helmet muttering incoherently and standing over a bubbling cauldron of bat wing bones brewing in frog lymph and Angostura spiced up by chalk dust and that secret ingredient in the Big Mac with intention of pouring it into Artesian’s water tower lift pumps one night while we innocently dream of Delaware’s Next Logo: Endless Charter-n-Choices. “Your day HAS COME,” he says, as he seals the fate of the guilty, by his definition, along with the innocent, just as Curly and the Coach do.

PS: I gave you all what, two weeks, to turn Endless Possibilities into Endless Something-to-do-with-schools without interfering. Now it’s done.

Wha’d I say? All said and done, it’s all said and done. Well, Coach has to move a comma or two, sign it and send it back, but just as I predicted, it’s done.

The minute either district EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED receipt of the threat, DOE and Curly won.

  4. I said it before and stand by it. It doesn’t benefit the district or the students to agree to the MOU. There is no interest from DOE in constructing a plan that has any chance of success, just like vision 20xx, RTTT, or any proposed “reform” action. This is smoke and mirrors. The ONLY thing the district plan does is preserve district teachers’ positions and possibly school administrative positions but what educationally does agreeing at a board meeting do? A School board’s purpose is to insure effective education by the schools within its jurisdiction. If they can’t do that (in this case they can’t but not because they haven’t tried) then let DOE. DOE released a MOU with actions DOE will take if the district doesn’t comply. Let DOE do what they want with the legal response that if DOE is taking control then DOE is completely and fully responsible for ALL educational and financial responsibilities. While I sympathize with staff that may be caught in the crossfire, the CSD board is first and foremost responsible for the education of the children and response to the community. If they cannot successfully succeed then let DOE, coach and curley play their hand.

“Hanging over the debate has been an ultimatum: If the two sides had not reached an agreement, Markell had said he would close these schools or hand them over to charters or other outside authorizers.
Board members who voted to compromise with the state said they just couldn’t accept that outcome. But those who voted against the bargain said they believed they were walking into a trap.”

Board members couldn’t accept DOE having to put up or shut up? Why not? How is agreeing to their plan a guarantee of success or progress?

“The district now turns to crafting individual plans with the details for the changes each school will make. It will vote on those plans next week.”

-Plans that do what? Bring in more social service workers to counsel 5 year olds not to fight in the street? Tell students that the life they lead in these difficult neighborhoods isn’t real? Hire more staff to mentor students by getting them to appreciate education and extend the school day from 6am to 6pm (so home life is minimized). Who’s going to pay for that, the district?

    • M Ryder- I hear what you are saying. Sounds great in theory but let the state pay the financial obligations of those buildings if they are in charge of them. That means personnel costs, energy costs, resource costs, student costs. The district should not for all of these costs without having any say-so over any of that. What it comes down to is this just take them but you take everything with them.
