Long Title:

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 14 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO SCHOOL PROPERTY AND HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS.

Synopsis of Orginal Bill:

(without Amendments)

As a public school safety measure, this bill requires that any door to a classroom will be equipped with a lock that can be locked from either side of the door. Many doors are currently not capable of locking from the inside. Locking the door(s) to a classroom from inside the classroom would enable precluding a school intruder from entering that classroom.

  1. There are many ways to ensure classroom safety without spending a fortune or requiring educators to go into the hallway and fumble with keys (which some educators don’t have for each classroom they use during a day).

As if the legislators care … which version of wasting the money of the makers is immaterial, bleating that they “did something” is all that matters to the elected zealots.
