Goodbye Rhonda! Don’t let the door hit you in the ass! Now let’s get Al Mascitti back as a NJ editorial writer!

The coming U.S. education advantage Rhonda B. Graham, The News Journal

Folks Rhonda’a last article isn’t worth commenting on! Pure NJ trash! Go read this crap here ………..

If the News Journal had any sense or concept in marketing they would hire Al Mascitti to fill this empty Ronda Graham echo-chamber! Way back, Al Mascitti and Norm Lockman had a kick-ass editorial columns. Al and Norm $$$$$$$ carried the News Journal. Rhonda’s last piece isn’t worthy of using for birdcage lining! Rhonda really supported the News Journal’s illusion of non-bias editorials.

“As if” the NJ is firing on all cylinders of objective reporting your solution is Al? Yeah, he would really kick up the objectivity? I don’t think you’ve thought that through. FACT based, thorough and hardcore informational news is what they need. Maybe they need a few more Eugene Robinsons or Dewayne Hickmans, not. You do want increased readership after all.

  2. Actually kilroy I think you’re being unfair to Rhonda. Seriously. I know her writing sometimes loses me, but she has been insistent on having different voices on the Community Advisory Board, and has always seen that my pieces (and those of others critical of the received wisdom) got to be published. Given the cozy relationship between the rest of the WNJ editorial staff and the state Democratic Party, I’ve always appreciated her willingness to work with me. I will miss her.

Her emphasis on the state standardized test as the holy grail is throwing a bone to Markell and Rodel and of course the NJ’s basis.

She know the dynamics of serving high poverty students and the increase pressure as the poverty % increases in a given school.

Perhaps the years of tip-toeing around the NJ editors to keep balance between her views and their agenda created a shallowness in the end.

Being the voice of reason and community consensus should be the driving force. When some of the NJ reporters stray across the line from reporting straight facts to adding little cryptic personal opinions it tend to create a connection to the writer and reading. Beth Miller is one of the best in the industry because she adds provoking dimension to her work. Lois Lane and Clark Kent seemed to be a little rebellious. Whereas, Jimmy Olsen shies from crossing the line.

The NJ has become bland over the years and fortunately Delaware is small. If it wasn’t there market share wouldn’t be enough to sustain them. Cracks me up that the NJ charges for online access. The haven’t figured out how to use the web-sight in a better $$$$ creative way.

Back to Rhonda! Let’s hope she isn’t 100% retired and pops-up somewhere where she can be more expressive and I how on the social issues impacting “people”. Children are failing in schools because of many adults as the Wall Street wolves beat at the $$$$$$$$ door. The “villiage” has no “people” leaders and tend to have leaders looking for a payday for their pocket or one for their resume.

    • Steve, good points, but her personal writing on education issues has been consistently tin-eared.
