Additional Sponsor(s):    Rep. Hudson & Sen. Sokola

CoSponsors:

Introduced on :

05/30/2013

Long Title:

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 4 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO ALCOHOLIC LIQUORS.

Synopsis:

This bill continues the process of updating the Liquor Control Act to make it more modern and consumer-friendly. Section 1 and 2 allow package stores to open at 8:00 a.m., instead of 9:00 a.m. on days other than Sundays. Section 3 allows package stores to open at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays instead of noon. All of these changes reflect consumer demand for more convenient shopping hours.

This is pathetic! The only person who needs to purchase acholol  8 in the morning is a DRUNK! What the hell are these people thinking in Dover? “All of these changes reflect consumer demand for more convenient shopping hours! Don’t you think the police have enough problems in the A.M. than to deal with more drunks?

  1. Don’t these folks have anything worthwhile to legislate?

  2. C’mon Kilroy, the folks that work overnights should still be able to get their booze for when they go home. Think about all the new employees for Fisker and and the Data Center and all the call center workers in the banks. All those folks working 12-8 shift need some booze!

Bravo to the GA for trying to get out of the package store business. Stop trying to micromanage the liquor industry business. You don’t do this with any other business, why Liquor?

More modern and consumer friendly? Tell that to the malls–no outcry there. Need another hour? Tack on the closing time for all the reasons Kilroy says– rush hour, school buses etc… After all, it is adult beverages so they can stay up later :).

  5. I think it is because the General Assembly needs a drink before it starts work on its early shift…
