Arne Duncan on Monday: We need more black men in classrooms.

In a phone interview Friday, Duncan said the nation’s teacher workforce does not reflect the diversity of its student when only one in 50 teachers is a black male. “This is a national problem,” he said, “and one in which most schools of education have not shown leadership or foresight.”

    Such idiocy. This implies that black kids can only learn from black men. I wonder how many black male teachers Barack had at his private school?

  3. Black females had nearly 100% representations in teaching staff at their schools prior to busing BUT that didn’t satify anyone either.

  4. We do need more Black and Latino teachers–both men and women. They are underrepresented in many of our schools.
