The Solomonic wisdom was the conditions Lowery put on the approval. She apparently sought legal advice to make sure she had the authority.
Heffernan’s quote seems to be opposed to the conditions? Or am I reading too much into it.
I wonder what legal advice the Board has on its duty (or not) to approve or reject Lowery’s conditions.
The conditions are the only real drama here.
NCS has not violated any law! So the board has no “legal” grounds to vote no!
Just went to Nicole Dobos blog and read part of what they will be addressing as far as Pencader. It is the following: … DOE asked questions concerning the negative publicity of Mr Lewis, the school leader’s husband around directing abusive language toward a student. This was before the teacher was dismissed and we are hopeful that will help with enrollment.” – funny, every single person I talked to did not want him fired. I knew they got rid of him because of ‘bad publicity’. Did they really get bad publicity from it? I didn’t really notice it, not until they fired him. But I think there is someone who wants Pencader to fail so to that person I say ‘thanks a lot for getting rid of a great teacher and hurting the kids”.
Well you know there is a confidentiality rule! What is there that we don’t know? Was this his first incident of this nature? If it weren’t for the kid with camera and YouTube we may of never heard about this incident. As far as DEDOE did they disapprove of the firing ?
what do you mean a confidentiality rule?
It was not his first incident of being abrupt with students. As far as I know it is the first using a word like that. As far as teachers being strict and yelling at kids, I would much rather them be like that than be a push-over.. at least for high school kids. If he was a kindergarten teacher, my thoughts would be a lot different. I thought there should be a consequence, just not one this big.
Pencader charter commanded by DOE to fire that teacher…..says MY special mouse…..
I don’t know of any other past incidents that were made public is any. But the board has the records and maybe something else weigh in on their decision??? Sure it doesn’t seem like a big deal but how common are these kinds of incidents! The “has” to be more to the story or teacher’s history! But then again. he has been teaching for many years and seem like nothing on public record
or someone (who I think might be crazier than DDC) has it in for the school itself. I said before, I am a blabber mouth – every person I have told this story to about Mr. Lewis has their own story of a teacher or coach at a school cursing. I don’t think it’s that unheard of. Also, he was talking about ”working hard for what you want in life and not acting like a spoiled bitch”, didn’t really call her a spoiled bitch. . a little play on words but does make a little difference.
He said “acting” like a spoiled bitch! No big deal in my book but what does the board know the public doesn’t?
yes, he said acting.
I think they must know there is a crazy someone among them
And it passes… From now on, stop doubting Kilroy.
It passed unanimously. Kilroy predicted two “No” votes. Wrong again Kilroy : 7 ).
Big deal wrong on 2 votes but knew it would pass from day! Looks like Markell did some backroom deals on one of the vote because a no vote was to be 100%. But it doesn’t matter, the stress is lifted of the back of Newark Charter parents.
If you’re looking for an older home in downtown Newark–plenty of charm, great shape!–get my email from Kilroy and let’s make a deal. Advice on Kennett vs. Avon Grove school districts?
Just bustin your chops Kilroy. You had this thing pegged from the beginning, even the impact of Meece’s editorial on the process. Thanks for keeping us all informed.
Citizen, you are a pathetic whiner. You should be more than willing to send your children to Newark High School and experience the “demographic balance” that you were more than willing to jam down everyone else’s throat. You’ve already shown your true colors by yanking your kids out of public education as soon as your number didn’t come up in the NCS lottery. Hypocrite.
