Recommendation to the Secretary of Education
Mr. Cruce made a motion that the Committee’s recommendation to the Secretary of Education will be to approve the modification request from Newark Charter School.
By a unanimous vote, the Committee recommends to the Secretary that all portions of this modification request be approved with the following condition.
Well folks DOE mouse reports it’s a go for the Newark Charter modification! DOE mouse us telling me that it’s rumored the state board of education would prefer the 5 mile attendance radius preference be lifted and change to CSD students. Big debate on cafeteria and free and reduce lunch waivers. Word has it NCS needs to come up with a concession! Kilroy’s thinks it might be on the 5 mile radius.
State board will evoke no public comments on charter school application at next Thursday March 15, 2012 State Board of Education meetings! Public had their opportunity to speak! Rule applies to all!
There’s been a lot of phone chatter back and forth! Word has it for everyone to relax and keep the waves minimal!
So hang on for the ride Newark Charter parents! Hopefully your school leaders throws the naysayers a bone!

What next! Fights at PZ Howard High, sexual assaults at Glasgow High, financial payouts because of blundering PZ school deans and PZ school leaders bailing as the PZ Titanic scraps the iceberg.
It amazes me, a Delaware teacher in hot water for telling a student she is acting like a bitch but yet one’s who takes high school kitten to a Superbowl party get to protect family honor and slips out the backdoor. Superintendents manipulated school bullying data are pulled together with the AG to come up with a better plan to be honest!
Our clueless state legislators are like Ostriches with heads in the sand. The Delaware Department of Education has been nothing but a personal pora-potty for Jack Markell to take a shit and don’t have to worry about flushing. One thing for sure is, the Delaware Department of Education doesn’t have a capacity problem when storing bullshit! Some say American’s trip to the moon was stage but for sure there is no doubt the Delaware Department of Education role in education reform is nothing bur fraud. Looks like Delaware participation in Arne Duncan’s “moon shot” to get it right aimed for the wrong moon and ended up hit the moon on the side of the Delaware DOE outhouse.

Word coming from inside Governor Markell camp is he reached out to Newark Charter School and gave words of encouragement and assurance.
Newark Charter’s application is a done deal and it is cause for celebration for Newark Charter parents. But to continue to follow the school leader’s insensitive News Journal ego masturbation sticking is ass in the face of Christina School District isn’t such a good idea. The parents who defend Newark Charter desire to expand is just. They want what is best for their children but really don’t understand how in some respects traditional public schools are being undermined by a Wall Street and local business roundtable agenda to see that they fail. It wasn’t DSEA who gave up DSTP. If the test is flawed the school ratings are flawed! I watched the systematic willful destruction of Conrad middle school to ensure a new grade 6-9th grade all “choice” magnet school would be put in place to honor a “promise”. Conrad continues to shed black students. Teacher unions have their downside. However, how many of us trust government and Wall Street. The marriage of Wall Street and Government to reform public education will backfire.
Calling Newark Charter parents racist is uncalled for. But I must say Governor Markell’s participation in this reckless agenda does have impact in respect to race and racial harmony in our public school system. Markell will sell up the unemployment numbers but ignore the disparities between black and white unemployment. It appears his political style is to follow the status quo who can’t be bogged-down with minority concerns. When a former board member told me “they” have “their” charter schools in response to what some say is resegregation via charters, I knew the deep-seeded agenda.
Jack Markell’s tactfulness in political appeasement of some local minority leaders is nothing more than African slave hunters using local tribesman to help capture slaves or paying off local tribal leaders for their human cattle. No , Jack is not a racist but at best is insensitive to the educational needs of minorities. He supports welfare like programs in high minority school whereas he should be more concern with human dignity that will raise a child.
We can’t save the world as individuals and when it comes to the needs of our children including education, we can’t save all students. But for a handful like Rep John Kowalko and others who put personal needs before what is socially just for public education we must recognize we are a community of all not one! Kowalko is no doubt a hot-head and politically aggressive. However, there are MANY elected officials sitting on the sidelines who know the flaws in the charter school laws. Yet they sit there fearing their political jobs if they upset affluent parents or the business roundtable who owns many of them. Many legislators may distance themselves from Kowalko and I doubt Markell will put him on the inauguration party list! Markell is use to looking at the tops of heads before him rather than look a man in the eye. Jack Markell is a classic buddy who get’s one and then goes give one in Washington D.C.. Jack is a political wind-up toy who can’t function without that key in his back! I could write a book called The Delaware Wizard of OZ where Jack will play the Tin-man, Scarecrow and Lion all as one man. Because that’s what he is! A mindless, heartless and shallow coward!
Dontdestroychristina don’t blame Newark Charter School parents for being parents! Blame Jack Markell for lacking courage to be a leaders of all people! He has lost touch with human suffering and worships the color of green far more then colors of man.
My advise to Newark Charter Parents is stay the course and guide your children through the difficult times of Delaware education reform that has some bad seeds. Take the stones and not throw them back. But I ask that you consider eliminating that 5 mile preference attendance zone! Does your church have a 5 mile preference zone? Keep the sibling preference and once you are in K you’re in for 12. I am sorry to say your school leader blundered with his News Journal piece and I don’t see his crab analogy representative of you and I certainly don’t see Newark Charter parents being obsessive egotistic people. You are parents who only want what is best for your children.
I support charter schools as an education option but have serious reservations about the laws governing charter schools and the reform players laced with politics.
I support the approval of the modification request for your sake but ask that you reflect on all this turmoil and see the damage the 5 mile preference attendance zone is having on the community. Sure there is a financial impact on Christina school district but surely all the misguided Race to The Top and Partnership Zone money could go to district classroom needs such as more teacher for hands-on intervention and enhance programming such as AP classes. The yes vote from the state board of education has a Markell lock-in! And it’s up to you as parents to encourage school leaders to change the 5 mile attendance preference to at-least a Christina attendance preference.
