Q: There is quite a bit of traffic in the Graves Road/Rt. 41 area. Has the district thought about the impact that a new school has on traffic?
A: Through the Certificate of Necessity process, it was determined that there were no “extraordinary” traffic related costs; in other words, the existing formula for new school construction would include the appropriate upgrades to surrounding roads and intersections. As part of the Certificate of Necessity process, Landmark Engineering worked with Mr. Marc Cote, Subdivision Manager for DelDOT. They used the Institute of Transportation Engineers Trip Generation Manual (8 th Edition) to generate the number of trips created as a result of an elementary school with up to 630 students (the plan calls for 600 students). They found nothing that would prevent DelDOT from being able to approve a school on this location. Mr. Cote and the engineers form Landmark Engineering did identify some improvements that would likely be required. This included widening of Graves Road to accommodate sidewalks and turn-lanes along the school’s property. In addition, some road work on Rt. 41 would be required. While there are two entrances to the property (one on Graves Road, and one on Rt. 41), they documented that the Rt. 41 access would likely be a right in/right out access. After the new school construction is approved by Red Clay residents, Red Clay will work with engineers and DelDot to finalize the appropriate traffic modifications. These modifications would be funded through existing budgets and not require an additional tax increase to Red Clay residents .
Deldot didn’t do a cost assessment on road and intersection improvements!

DelDOT chief: Agency’s missing checks, records show incompetence; Millions in taxpayer money lost; secretary to launch multiple investigations
So where did the former Red Clay CFO go to work?

The school won’t be built in the current budget year! Let’s see a letter from Jack Markell stating Red Clay local taxpayers won’t foot the bill for road modification such as intersections! Yes the building plan include access road into the property aka drive ways! Let’s see the blueprints that include road construction such as additional turning lanes

Homework is pass due! PISS POOR PLANNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um… didn’t Red Clay say that they hadn’t done a traffic study on Jensen’s show? The answer above sure sounds like a study – altho I don’t remember any of this info being shared in the WDEL interview.
You got it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They just keep burying themselves in their own bullshit! It’s obvious there was poor planning ! But if the new school fails it will be because of us naysayers and the’ll save, we don’t care about kids!
Its For The Kids! Now shut the F up and vote yes and give us our money!
