Markell pays the Rodel piper! Kiss Ass !

This is what happen when Arne and his business butt-buddies in Chicago pulled a Vision 2015 called Renaissance 2010.

U.S. Education Secretary coming to Delaware

The October conference also includes an update on the effort’s progress by Vision 2015 chairman Skip Schoenhals. Gov. Jack Markell, state Education Secretary Lillian Lowery and UD President Patrick Harker are also scheduled to speak.

Here we go again the business community and a Delaware Governor teaming to reform Delaware public education.  Now with a little help from Joe Biden the big top from Washington, D.C. brings in his circus to town. I wonder if Arne Duncan will bring Al Sharpton to roll the African-Americans under the delusional 2015 plan. Markell drags in the Delaware Secretary of Education in his political kiss ass orgy! This was the same bullshit Tom Carper pulled with DSTP.

Let’s not forget DSEA who I am sure will be kissing ass with this crowd. I don’t know who does DSEA more harm, themselves or the right-wingers in the Delaware GOP? Go ahead DSEA kiss the ass of the devil and cry later when the screw you!

Markell sold his soul to Rodel for all those campaign contributions from the founders of Rodel and now he must pay the piper.

We need government and business people out of education and let educators have their classrooms back. Ducan wants to “Race to the Top” but Delaware can even reduce class sizes per it’s own legislation because the law was an unfunded mandate.

I support organized labor but if DSEA attends this politcal circus and kisses ass I hope their house falls in.

This conference when Ducan will be key(ass)note speaker is at the University of Delaware’s Clayton Hall. How F’ing ironic, Ducan supports Teach For America , recent college graduate in non educatiom major who will come in and out perform exsisting public school teachers where perhaps a fe graduated from the Univeristy of Delaware as education majors.

  1. I was disturbed by this comment:

“Christina School district has failed for the second time. There are no transfer options in Christina school district because ALL of the high schools failed. In fact, only 8 of the 29 schools in the district passed. I am going to assume most were charter schools. Essentially the letter I received tells me Christina can not provide my children with an “adequate” education and I have no recourse. In many other states the recourse would be a school voucher for the approx. $13,000 that Christina is getting for each of my children being sent to a school of my choice. The Christina plan would have have the schools reformed 4 years after my last child graduates. WOW great plan. If the law states that they have to provide me with a transfer option and they claim they don’t have an option as all of the high schools failed do we not hold them accountable?”

    CSD is still under water?

  2. Nancy I don’t think so. http://profiles.doe.k12.de.us/SchoolProfiles/District/Default.aspx
I do believe they paid back the loan to the state.

Anyhow, the school rating are based on the DSTP and Jack Markell knows the DSTP sucks and of course will take all the credit for dumping it when in fact it was many including my self push for dumping.

So how do you point the finger at teacher for failing schools that the failure is based on a failed DSTP given to us by the same asshole behind Vision 2015?

DSEA will bend over an “let’s all play nice together for the kids” bullshit.

No the Feds Arne Duncan wants to sell “Race to the Top” which is nothing more the race to the bank for Rodel and Vision 2015.

re: failing schools , per Delaware charter school law any public school at any time can convert to a charter school “IF” more than 50% teacher and staff and 50% of parents vote for converting to a charter. No do you really think a uinon with vote to convert? Why not if parent made the vote ?

  3. Nancy: I am not sure where the comment you cited came from.

The eight schools in ChSD that met AYP are certainly not charter schools. Charters are listed separately. I doubt if there are eight charter schools within ChSD’s borders. ChSD is not still under water, although their feet might still be wet.

It gets harder and harder for any school to achieve AYP each year, as the goals are set higher and higher each year. All high schools in the state are struggling to meet AYP and many are in that watch status, on the cusp of going under. It may not be the school’s fault in lots of ways. For example, by the time under-achieving kids get to HS, they may be way behind other students. They may have a huge gap to cover. Also some schools have many “cells” in which to succeed or fail. A school with a very diverse student population has lots of cells based on race, socio-economic status, etc. Additionally, one kid may be in multiple cells. If this kid fails the test it affects multiple cell scores. If you fail to meet goals in a 3-4 out of 25 or 30 cells, you may not meet AYP. Plus, Kilroy is right. All of this is set on the house of cards that is DSTP.
