My sources indicate that Bob A will retire June 30, 2009. There may be a board announcement tonight!
Thank you for the correction Little Shark Boy.
With advance notice of Bob A’s retirement Red Clay can take the time to locate a replacement and provide a better transition.
I urge this community to make it known that they have seat during the selection process. But don’t kid yourselves thinking it can only get better from here. We still have issues with the school board’s reluctance to provide the community with real financial transparency. It’s the finances of the any school district that make or break what level of services delivered to students.
I suspect a few board members will bail out after Bob’s departure. I am certain they have the dignity to make those intentions known prior to next May’s board election. Only one seat is up next May and if any other board member decides to leave its base for the community to go through the election process instead of current board members making appointments to complete the terms.
Also, make note there are few senior district administrators near retirement age and I am sure they will get out of Dodge in case skeletons may come falling out of the closet after Bob’s departure.
To some better days may be here however, with poor financial forecast of the state financial heath we may have more educational budget concerns heading our way.
With a new Governor coming into office no doubt we’ll be seeing a new Secretary of Education. So 2009 will be a major turning point in education for Red Clay and statewide.
